Snowmobiling:
Often called “Oregon’s best snowmobiling locale” the surrounding area is renowned for both the quality and quantity of groomed snowmobiling trails. Access to over 250 miles of groomed snowmobiling trails can be found literally seconds from our property. Average yearly snowfall ranges from 150 inches to 300 inches, with an on-ground average of over 100 inches. With the Blue Mountain Range easily being one of the most popular destinations for snowmobiling in Oregon, the Blue Mountain Lodge is ideally suited to be your base camp on your next great snowmobiling adventure.
Walla Walla Wine Country:
Located approximately 25 miles from the Blue Mountain Lodge, the Walla Walla wine valley is quickly becoming one of the hottest wine destinations in the country, even being described as “the next Napa” by Portland Monthly Magazine, and being featured in a recent Chicago Tribune article. Guests to the Walla Walla area will have their choice from over 95 wineries and restaurants. Antiquing and boutique shopping opportunities are also in abundance. Over 25 popular varietals of wine are available: most prominent being cabernet sauvignon, merlot, and syrah.
Horseback Riding:
For those summer guests who might be interested in horseback riding, the Blue Mountain Lodge has three outdoor horse stalls located on its grounds. We do not have a corral, but there is ample room on our property for those guests who wish to bring up temporary corrals. As with snowmobiling, trailheads providing access to over 250 miles of maintained horseback trails can be found within seconds of the Blue Mountain Lodge. Quiet, serene, and surrounded by panoramic vistas, horseback riders will find the escape and relaxation they are looking for at the Blue Mountain Lodge.
Jubilee Lake:
Jubilee Lake is located 12 miles northeast of Tollgate on Forest Road 64 and is approximately 25 minutes from the lodge. Nestled among the trees, the lake provides a beautiful setting for day-use, as well as camping. Jubilee Lake National Recreation Trail offers a pleasant 2.8 mile stroll around the lake, which is fully wheelchair accessible. There are 37 picnic sites with drinking water available. Activities include picnicking, fishing, boating, swimming, hiking and mountain biking. Only electric motors are allowed on the lake. There is a day-use fee of $3.00 per vehicle.
SPOUT SPRINGS SKI RESORT WILL NOT BE OPEN FOR SEASON 2017-2018.
Located approximately 9 miles, or 15 minutes, from the lodge. Spout Springs Ski Area has two fixed double chair lifts and is one of three ski areas in northeastern Oregon. Most of the terrain is easy to moderate in difficulty. It receives an above-average amount of annual snowfall for the area and has a 600-foot vertical range. It also features a free snow-tubing hill.
Horseshoe Prairie Nordic Ski Area:
Located near Spout Springs Ski Area, Horseshoe Prairie Nordic Ski Area is ideal for cross country enthusiasts.
Umatilla National Forest:
Entry to Umatilla National Forest lies literally seconds away from the Blue Mountain Lodge. The Umatilla National Forest provides guests of the Blue Mountain Lodge a place for summertime fun and winter adventures. Opportunities for fishing, hiking, birdwatching, rafting, sledding, skiing, and snowmobiling can all be found within the 1.4 million acres of Umatilla National Forest.
Andie’s Prairie: Andie’s Prairie is a great area for sledding and snowtubing with the kids. Located in a natural half-pipe on a hillside, Andie’s Prairie is also a great put-in and take-out for cross country skiers and snowmobilers.
